Like Satchmo, P-Diddy and Gaga before us, FIDGET Branding is not the name we were born with. Arthur Zeesman started the company in 1990 as — wait for it — ZEESMAN, a Los Angeles advertising agency specializing in travel, tourism and hospitality. (Which, perhaps, explains our deep-seated need to keep moving.)
Our first upshift came when Bonnie Nijst joined ZEESMAN in 2000 and promptly diversified the client base. We were suddenly catapulted into the corporate, government and nonprofit spaces, working with Los Angeles World Airports, Rock the Vote, Griffith Observatory, USC, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, American Express, Panasonic, Warner Bros. and many other global brands and local organizations.
By 2003, we had become a full-fledged branding and marketing agency and were gaining real momentum. Bonnie was now majority owner, president and CEO, earning ZEESMAN certification as a minority- and woman-owned business enterprise (MWBE). And in 2013, the City of Los Angeles and the Minority Business Development Agency named us Professional Services Firm of the Year.
Now closing in on 2020, we still haven’t slowed down. In fact, we’ve picked up the pace. As one of Goldman Sachs’ 10,000 Small Businesses, we gained the support and resources to make our latest pivot: We became FIDGET, a B2B agency leveraging the new tech (with all that ZEESMAN expertise) for faster, smarter lead nurturing, brand building and sales enablement. And we can’t wait to see where this new direction leads.
